Scrap Happy Saturday

It's all about the color indigo this month.

I do not have a lot indigo in my scrap stash but I managed to come up with these few blocks.  They are as close as I could get to indigo.  I like the Roosevelt's Bow Tie block best.  It went together super fast.  I like it a lot.  It's shown front and center.

I had to do some tweaking with the cutting instructions for the center Bullseye Block for it to finish at 6 1/2 inches.  It's the one on the far right.  I just switched my center block to a 2 1/2 inch square and adjusted my strips accordingly.  Easy Peasy.  No Problem.

I am using my Easy Angle and Companion Ruler for my HST's and Flying geese units.

Click on over to SoScrappy to see what we're all up to this week.

July Blocks too!
Lantern Blocks

My quilting bee is also having an ongoing quilt block blitz.  The rules are simply.  Just make Red, White and Blue star blocks.  Any kind and just about any size.   Our plan is to get together and sew them all into a few quilts to donate here locally.

My design board all loaded up.

I'm using a new technique I found.  No-Waste flying geese.  I found it at Generations Quilt Patterns website.    I like it for small units.  My blocks are 6 1/2 inch.

March Monday Madness

And Color Monday

Well it's started.  The ACC Basketball Tournament March Madness is here!   I heard a little news trivia this morning that businesses lose $2 billion in lost employee productivity during the playoffs.    You can't get away from it.

Here is my March Madness version.   My design wall.  It's loaded with projects.  I layered it as I completed each project this weekend.

A few years back I made a bunch of small string quilts.  They really were too small to be of any use. So, I made them bigger.  They're now about 40 x 45.

I headed off to Jo-Ann Fabrics today and bought a huge roll of batting.  Gonna knock these out along with other quilts are just piling up.

Who doesn't like cake?
Color Monday's theme is birthdays.  I'd take any of these cakes for my birthday.
Would you like a slice?

Out with pink.

Due to the frigid temperatures here, I sure got a lot of quilting done.

You should have heard me, singing along with all my favorite country songs up in my sewing room.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself this week.

The hubster was in Texas this week.  I spent hardly any time in the kitchen.  I used my bread machine to make some egg challah and brought out the new crockpot.
I made a fabulous dish of Indian Chicken Korma.

You know, I've been married for 32 years and never used a crockpot.   What was I waiting for?  It's terrific.  I was always a stay-at-home mom and thought slow cookers were for moms that worked outside the house.  My neighbor gave me a copy of the Cooking Light Slow Cooker to the Rescue book.   Wow! Was I wrong.

Today is the last day for finishing up our Pinks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge

Here is my 16-Patch Scrap Jar Stars in all pink.
This is my quilt top where I did not add sashing.
I still would like to add a scrappy border.
I'm going to donate this baby quilt.

My String X blocks under construction.
I like to use the Kabnet Deli papers from Costco for my foundations.  There are 500 sheets per box and it comes bundled in threes.
I cut the papers approximately 8 x 5.  I sew out from the middle on each side, tear my paper off, press, starch, then square down to 4 1/2 x 8.
The next step is to add my background triangles.

I have always loved this tulip quilt.  I made it for a friend a few years ago.  Just sharing it with you because its pink.

Maybe when the snow melts, I'll see my tulips peeking out from the ground.

Somewhere in this planter are my daffodils.

Tomorrow we find out what the new RSC2015 color will be for the month of March.

Playing with Pinks

This weekend I am catching up on my Quilt-Alongs and BOM's.  All week I've been stuck, hibernating, enjoying being in the house with the freezing temps outside.    Today it almost reached 60 degrees.  We're expecting another round of snow tomorrow.
Hip Hip HOORAY!

February's color is Pink

Here are my Scrap Jar Stars.

{here}

I am making two quilts this month with my pink stash.  One 16-Patch that alternates with pink and white and the other 16-patch is just all pinks.

I'm trying to decide if I want to make both quilts with sashing.  When you leave out the sashing, you get a secondary square block which I do like.  See it up there on the lower right of my collage?

Here it is with the sashing.  I decided to do one with and one without.
When you do use sashing, you get the nine-patch secondary design.

Give me a few days and I'll get the one with the all pink blocks sewn up.

I used a bunch of white scraps for my blocks and Kona white for the borders.  Wow, it looks so yellow (uh actually gross!) when I brought it outside to take a picture.
Maybe I shouldn't be so scrappy when it comes to using white.

I'm also joining Angela in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge

These are my Flying Geese and Bear Pawish blocks.

See ya soon.  I'll show you my Stars in A time Warp blocks.
