Featherweight Sewing Machine T-Shirt Give Away

Sewing Machine Sadness/Give-Away :)

Hurry! Must Register by Aug 1. (w0w) That is fast approaching.

Eileen is the Winner!

My Bernina sewing machine has broken down. The hand wheel just flew right off. Nuts and bolts stripped down and broken. It still works, but it's not the same. I can't turn the wheel to adjust my needle or pick up the bobbin thread. I can't pivot and turn while quilting. There is a huge hole on the right side.

When the weather gets cooler here (maybe in October), I'll get over to my local shop and get it fixed. No, just kidding, I'll bring it there next week. But it is just too darn hot outside. Just a trip to the post office carrying a bunch of boxes and packages can get you all sticky. It's not fun. It is really ever any fun going to the post office?

So like my favorite country guy, Direks Bentley, I'll Settle for a Slowdown. I'm liking my little slow down. Whew. This machine is sloooooow. I can't put the foot pedal to the metal as my friends say about my sewing style.

Yeah, I'd say we do things slower here in the South in the summer.

When I use my featherweight, I have a tendency to work on old-fashioned looking projects. Really I do. Saw-tooth star blocks in double pinks that I have been working on for a few years now, log cabin blocks, and lots of scrappy quilts from Quiltville.com

But now for some Fun!

Give-Away Time :)

Must Register by Aug 1.

Open to U.S. & Canada Residents Only

  2. Stacey, my condolences to you on the lose of your machine! :( My machine is still chugging along, though is on its death bed. I just looked over Craig's list for any orphan machines that might be in need of a good home and found a local Featherweight 221. Looks like it does wonderful work (especially that last quilt - YUM!) My grandma used to have one. I'm not sure I could handle going slow, but what a great sewing surface it has! Wonder if hubby could soup it up with one of the spare lawnmower motors he has lying around? (Just kidding, of course, but barely!) Anyway, thanks for the great giveaway chance! I am already a follower. ardeasnest@gmail.com

  3. Stacey~ Ohhhh, I feel your pain! Losing your Bernina is awful, but the fun of the Featherweight sorta makes up for that. They are such fun to sew on, and you are right--I always make traditional patterns on my Featherweight. Just completed a hst project that was a joy to make on my Featherweight, Jini.

  5. Oh, I am so sorry about your machine. The good thing is that you can slow down and enjoy what you are creating rather than going at break neck speed. We all need to slow down and enjoy every once in a while.

  9. Sorry to hear about your machine. I think the heat is affecting human and machine alike. this is actually my third attempt to make this comment so it looks as though even my computer is fed up with the humidity. Since I don't have a featherweight I can't comment on what project I'd make, so I'll live vicariously through you!!

  14. I have a featherweight machine just like yours, however, someone stole the box and all the attachments and foot feed. I am sick about it as it was my favorite machine. Have been looking for replacements but no luck so far. :>(

  17. working on several projects right now--waiting for more material (due to old-itis and not paying attention i miscut a bunch of fabric for my brand new granddaugter's quilt :( ) luckily i was able to use that in a patchworky quilt for a friend's baby girl. finishing a kaffe fasset pickle dish quilt for me. making a bright chinese coin inspired quilt for my grandkiddos to cuddle in when they visit. working on a Christmas quilt with kate spain fabrics (LOVE those) and a paintbox quilt. it works well for my brain to have more than one thing going at a time--otherwise i get frustrated or bored with the process. am trying to document the process as i go, too, now.

  22. I actually got my FW at a garage sale. It was in a cardboard box. It had been in the attic for years. The wiring was frayed. I bought it, had it serviced and have been very happy with my Babe fW.

My last project was piecing a black and white nine patch quilt. Love black and white!

  29. hubby brought the pkg from p.o. box today!! so cute. he said he wished the tee were bigger so he could wear it! ha! i may be nice and give it to my daughter or just be selfish and keep it for me when i lose some more weight. dh and i both loved the fabrics--can't wait to figure out what to make with them. i'd forgotten they were coming and just ordered 5 or 6 black and whites from a new place, so now i'll just have so much to play with!! thanks so much and have a great day
